Visa and Formalities
Visa
No visa is required for EU, Switzerland or Canadian citizens. You will need a standard passport valid for at least 6 months beyond your return date.
Entry Formalities
At Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport you will be asked to fill in a form stipulating your booked destination address in Mauritius. You might also be asked about any personal spending money necessary for the duration of your stay.
Health Requirements
No vaccination is necessary in Mauritius. However, if travelling from an infected country, yellow fever is recommended. There is no risk of malaria in Mauritius, so no vaccination is required.
 
Airport Taxes
Please note that you will need to pay a 300 Rupee tax on your departure from Mauritius. Remember to keep any local currency on your way to the airport. For your assistance, banks stay open in the international flights departure lounge.
Pets
An authorization from the Department of the Farm Office and a 6 months quarantine is compulsory for dogs and cats.
Custom Procedures
Used clothes and personal belongings are exempt from duty-regulations - 250 cigarettes or 50 cigars or 250g of tobacco - 1 litre of spirit or 2 litres of wine or beer, 25cl of perfume. You will need a licence for importation of plants or fresh fruits. If you have any immigration query, please contact Port Louis Immigration Office on (00 230) 208.12.12.

Banks
Banks are situated in each major city of the island and in tourist areas. The exchange rate is the same everywhere on the island, even at the airport. Opening Times : Mon - Thu : 9.00 - 15.15 Fri : 9.15 - 15.30 (some open till 19.00) Sat : 9.15 - 11.15 (only some banks). Many banks have a 24 hour automatic cash dispenser service.
